FAQ
Do you have questions about PFD or the events we organize? Are you a new player looking to join the sport or improve your game? We are here to help everyone enjoy the sport of disc golf!
What is disc golf?
Disc golf is a sport that combines elements of golf and frisbee, where players throw a disc at a basket on a course and aim to complete each hole in the fewest throws. The sport can be enjoyed by anyone, regardless of age or abilities.
What equipment is needed to play?
Disc golf is very cost effective to get into and that's part of what makes the sport so accessible to everyone. A single disc is all you need to play, which can be purchased for less than $20. Many disc manufacturers offer "starter packs" which include 3-4 discs normally and will cost less than $35. As you get more involved in the game, you may want to purchase other accessories like specialized shoes or a bag to carry your discs. Ultimately, you can make disc golf as cheap or extravagant as your budget allows.

How do I find courses to play in my area?
PFD overlooks 10 great courses in the greater Pittsburgh area. You can find these courses under the "Courses" tab of our website. There are other great resources for finding local courses to you. We recommend downloading the UDisc app for your smartphone for the most comprehensive list of courses around the world.
How do I find disc golf events to play in my area?
PFD hosts a bunch of fun disc golf events all throughout the year. You can find these events under the "Events" tab of our website. There you will find information about tournaments, leagues, and other organized events that we host. Another great source of local information is the Pittsburgh Community DG Page on Facebook. To see other fun disc golf events going on, we suggest using DiscGolfScene. UDisc also has it's own events tab to see what's going on in your area.

I lost/found a disc at the course
It's common for disc golfers to lose a disc while out on the course. It is also common practice to write your name/number somewhere on your disc. If you find a disc, you can try contacting the owner if possible. PFD also has lost/found boxes installed at our courses. Found discs can be placed in these boxes and the course promoters will attempt to get the discs back to their rightful owner. Most course promoters empty the boxes once every week or two, so if your disc was placed in the lost/found box you should hear from a course promoter shortly. You can look up who the course promoters are at each course by visiting here.
